Porous vs Non-Porous Surfaces – Why It Matters in a Nail Salon

Some surfaces are much harder to disinfect than others.

Non-porous surfaces (metal, glass, hard plastic) are easier to disinfect because the liquid can reach the germs.

Porous surfaces (wood, some fabrics, certain soft materials) absorb liquid and can trap germs inside. These are much harder to disinfect properly.

That is why we prefer non-porous tools and surfaces whenever possible, and why some items must be discarded instead of reused.
