Class-B, because the class is the whole point.
Based Aesthetics sterilizes reusable metal instruments in a Class-B autoclave at 134°C. Kilpauk, Chennai.
A Class-B autoclave uses pressurised steam and pulls a vacuum first, so the steam reaches the hinge of a nipper and the inside of a pouch. That is the reason the class matters: a cycle that cannot reach the pivot of a hinged instrument has not sterilized it.
Pouched after the cycle, opened in front of you.
Instruments leave the autoclave sealed in pouches and are not opened until your appointment. Every pouch carries a chemical indicator strip, so the pouch itself shows that the cycle ran before anything touches you.
If a pouch is already open when it reaches the table, it does not get used.
A UV cabinet is storage, not a steriliser.
UV light only acts on surfaces in its direct path. It does not reach the hinges or undersides of nail instruments and it does not kill spores. A glass-fronted UV cabinet holding loose tools is a display case.
Based Aesthetics does not treat a UV box as sterilization equipment.
If it cannot be sterilized, it is not reused.
Steam sterilization destroys porous materials rather than rendering them safe. Anything that cannot survive the cycle is not put back into service on another client.
Frequently asked questions
Do you sterilize reusable metal tools in an autoclave?
Yes. Every reusable metal instrument is sterilized in a Class-B autoclave at 134°C. That includes cuticle nippers, pushers, scissors and e-file bits. Chemical immersion disinfection is a pre-step to that cycle, not a replacement for it.
Do you use sealed pouches after sterilization?
Yes. Instruments come out of the autoclave in sealed pouches and stay sealed until your appointment. The pouch is opened in front of you at the table. Each pouch carries a chemical indicator strip that confirms the cycle actually ran.
Can I see your sterilization workflow for nippers, pushers, and scissors?
Yes, and you can ask to watch any part of it. Instruments are scrubbed clean of visible debris, rinsed, fully immersed in disinfectant for the contact time on the product label, rinsed again, dried completely, pouched, then run through the Class-B autoclave at 134°C. The pouch is opened in front of you.
Is a UV box the same as sterilization?
No. A UV cabinet only projects light onto surfaces it can reach, so it cannot treat the hinges, joints and undersides of a nail instrument, and it does not kill spores. It is storage, not sterilization. Based Aesthetics does not use a UV box as sterilization equipment.
Come and watch the pouch being opened.
